How to let staff clock in and out on Shopify POS
Shopify POS handles staff PINs and permissions; to record shifts and breaks, shops add a time clock app from the Shopify App Store. Install the app, add its tile to the POS home screen, and give each staff member a PIN. Staff clock in, take breaks and clock out on the till; a manager approves the hours and exports them for payroll. Most apps cost $15 to $30 a month for a small team.
Step by step
- Install a time clock app from the Shopify App Store (options compared below).
- Add the app's tile to Shopify POS: on the POS home screen, add a tile and pick the app.
- Add your staff and give each person a PIN so nobody can clock in for someone else.
- Staff clock in, start and end breaks, and clock out on the till at the start and end of each shift.
- Approve the hours each week and fix any missed clock-outs.
- Export the hours to payroll. Most apps export a CSV you can import into Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, ADP or your UK or Irish payroll software. EasyTeam and Homebase can also run payroll for you in the US and Canada for an extra fee.

Approve the week's time cards first, then export them as a CSV and import that file into your payroll software.
